Faculty Resources: General

Interlibrary Loan

Faculty may request journal articles not held at James White Library, and books not available through MeLCat, from another library using the Interlibrary loan (ILL) service. To request such items, complete and submit the Interlibrary Loan Request Form

The request goes by email to the Resource Sharing Office where it is processed. Journal articles are filled electronically and are emailed directly to you. Books and other materials are shipped to the library. You will be notified by email when the material you have requested has been delivered and is ready for pick up at the Circulation desk. If you have questions about Interlibrary Loan, email ill@andrews.edu

MelCat

Our MelCat service is currently on hold due to the transition to a new library management system. We will post updates here when the MelCat service resumes. In the meantime, please use our InterLibrary Loan service for your external borrowing needs. If you have questions, email them to ill@andrews.edu

Visiting and Guest Scholars

The James White Library provides borrowing privileges to Visiting and Guest scholars. Visiting Scholars are affiliated to the University’s academic unit and have full faculty library privileges. Guest Scholars are those who do not have an official affiliation to a department of Andrews University. They may visit the library and have on-site access to services and resources. The Guest Scholars will need to present a current photo ID and a valid university ID of their affiliated institution in person at the main Circulation desk and complete the  Guest Scholar Borrowing Application Form if they desire to borrow library materials.  For borrowing policies, click here

Your Liaison Librarian

JWL has a team of librarians who engage with faculty and students to provide in-depth and meaningful research assistance to students and faculty in their designated academic areas. They are also responsible for collection development in their assigned areas.  If you are seeking research help, library instruction, or to further build the library collection within your specialty, please fill the Library Consultation Request Form or contact your liaison librarian directly .

Proxy Borrower

The faculty may designate a student assistant from their department or a secretary to borrow library materials on their behalf, and also request items for them via MeLCat and Interlibrary loan service. Proxies may be able to view items in the faculty member’s account and renew as needed. Faculty members are personally responsible for the items that proxies borrow on their behalf. If you want to use the services of a proxy, download the Proxy Agreement Form, and return the filled and signed form to circulation@andrews.edu.

Course Reserves

These are course-specific and other supplemental materials professors have chosen for student use. They are available at the main Circulation desk, and may be checked out with a valid AU card. Loan periods vary from 1 hour to 2 days.
