Faculty Support Services

This portal provides information about library resources and services that can support faculty teaching and research

MelCat

Faculty may borrow books not held at James White Library from the collections of  over 430 academic libraries that are part of MeLCat (Michigan eLibrary Catalog). Before submitting a request, make sure the item is not available in the James White Library catalog. To request such items, complete and submit the request form here.
The system automatically generates and sends an email to notify you when the material you have requested has been delivered and is ready for pick up at the Circulation desk. If you have questions about your MeLCat item, email ill@andrews.edu. To check the status of your requests, or cancel a MeLCat request, check MyMeLCat

Visiting and Guest Scholars

The James White Library provides borrowing privileges to Visiting and Guest scholars. Visiting Scholars are affiliated to the University’s academic unit and have full faculty library privileges. Guest Scholars are those who do not have an official affiliation to a department of Andrews University. They may visit the library and have on-site access to services and resources. The Guest Scholars will need to present a current photo ID and a valid university ID of their affiliated institution in person at the main Circulation desk and complete the  Guest Scholar Borrowing Application Form if they desire to borrow library materials.  For borrowing policies, click here

Proxy Borrower

The faculty may designate a student assistant from their department or a secretary to borrow library materials on their behalf, and also request items for them via MeLCat and Interlibrary loan service. Proxies may be able to view items in the faculty member’s account and renew as needed. Faculty members are personally responsible for the items that proxies borrow on their behalf. If you want to use the services of a proxy, download the Proxy Agreement Form, and return the filled and signed form to circulation@andrews.edu.
