Open Educational Resources (OER) are free teaching resources which embody sustainability, inclusivity, equity and collaboration for social good in education.
OER support the following Sustainability Development Goals:
- Goal 4: Quality Education - Ensure all learners have equitable access to quality education and acquire knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development.
- Goal 5: Gender Equality - Achieve greater gender parity and equality and empower all women and girls.
- Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure - Promote sustainable industries, and invest in scientific research and innovation, through unhindered access to information and knowledge. Human skillful empowerment is the key to the success of this goal.
- Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities - Reduce widening disparities of inequality within and among countries by empowering local income earners and promoting economic inclusion.
- Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals - The SDGs can only be realized with strong global partnerships and cooperation, including partnership to share and make scholarly information freely available to equip all learners to develop their beings to the fullest, strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.
